Flight searches to Mallorca spike as Love Island hots up

Love it or loathe it, ITV2’s reality dating show Love Island has been the talk of the summer. Around 2million people are tuning in to watch the antics of 12 single participants who flirt, fight and pose in skimpy clothing for the chance to win £50,000. Flight booking site Kiwi.com has noted that searches for flights to Mallorca have spiked this month by 31% with the return of the show.

Naturally, Love Island contestants stay in an enormous luxury villa, whose location hasn’t been disclosed, but we know it's on the island of Mallorca, with hot tubs, a gym, an outdoor kitchen and lavish interiors. If they left the villa confines, contestants would find the largest Balearic island has a winning combination of dramatic mountains, soft sandy beaches, an elegant capital and accommodation ranging from boutique hotels, exclusive villas and farmhouses to more affordable low-rise blocks.

The show finishes on 24 July (extended due to peak ratings), but fans can console themselves by booking return flights on easyJet from London Stansted to Palma for £91.
